Portrait of Charline, founder of Avaia

Charline

Founder & specialist hairdresser

Hairdressing has been part of Charline’s life since the age of 15. Along the way, she became aware of the sensitivities and reactions some products can cause. More than 11 years ago, she chose to turn to a more natural approach to hairdressing and gradually specialised in plant-based colour and gentle chemistry.

A mother of two little girls, an entrepreneur and particularly attentive to detail, Charline created AVAIA to bring together everything she loves about her work: hairdressing, natural care, well-being, listening and human contact.

People often say she has “fairy hands”. It suits her well: she loves working with precision, feeling the texture of the hair, observing and taking the time needed to perfect every detail.

An apprentice trainer with a diploma in energy hairdressing, she has also trained in head spa rituals. Two years spent in Guadeloupe enriched her experience and her approach to hair, especially textured hair.

With AVAIA, she is bringing to life a vision of hairdressing she has been building for years: more natural, more mindful and deeply human.

A father of two little girls, warm, sociable and a good listener, he loves taking care of others and pays particular attention to women, their wishes and what makes them feel good. For him, a successful service is not just a beautiful cut or colour: it is also about listening, conversation and a shared moment.

Trained in face-shape styling, notably in Paris, he has solid experience in plant-based colour, hair diagnosis and cutting. His eye lets him adapt his work to each person’s face, personality and hair type.

Particularly at ease with cutting, for women and men alike, Jean Pierre loves precise, careful work. His perfectionism and sense of service complement a warm personality that naturally puts people at ease.

Charline & Jean Pierre

Two sensibilities, one shared vision

Charline and Jean Pierre have known each other for several years and have already worked together in organic hairdressing. Today, their paths meet again at AVAIA.

Both parents of two little girls, they share much more than a profession: a love of human contact, listening, attention to detail and the desire to truly care for the people who trust them with their hair.

Their personalities and skills are different but complementary. Each brings their own sensibility and expertise, and they share one conviction: hairdressing should respect the hair, reveal the person and offer them a true moment for themselves.

Two paths, two personalities, one shared passion for the craft.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

What is plant-based hair colour?

It is colour made from powdered dye plants such as henna, indigo or cassia, with no ammonia or oxidant. The pigments coat the hair fibre instead of opening it, so hair gains shine and body.

Does plant-based colour cover grey hair?

Yes, with a softer, more luminous result than conventional colour. Depending on your base and the amount of grey, a second application may be recommended (+1 h, 60 CHF). We discuss it together during the diagnosis.

How long does an appointment take?

It depends on the service; durations are listed on our menu. A plant-based colour, for example, takes between 2 h 20 and 2 h 50, including processing time. Natural drying is included in all our services.

What happens at the first visit?

We start by listening to your wishes and looking at your hair and scalp. We then suggest the right service and tell you the price before we begin. No extra cost without your agreement.

Why are prices given as a range?

The final price depends on the time needed, the thickness of your hair and the amount of product. It is always confirmed before your service: the price quoted is the price you pay.

What is a head spa?

A scalp-care ritual inspired by Japanese traditions: cleansing, treatments and massage to release tension and care for the hair from the roots. The Signature head spa lasts 1 to 2 hours; there is also a version for children.

What happens to the hair cut at the salon?

It is recycled to support environmental causes. This is one of our eco-responsible commitments.
